ran this:
zypper se -t product | grep -h – “-migration” | cut -d’|’ -f2
It returned both of these:
SUSE_SLES-SP2-migration
SUSE_SLES-SP3-migration
sync:~ # zypper in -t product SUSE_SLES-SP2-migration

Solution 1: downgrade of product:SUSE_SLES-11.2-1.538.x86_64 to
product:SUSE_SLES-11.1-1.206.x86_64
Solution 2: do not install

So I am wondering whether I really need SUSE_SLES-SP2-migration?
If I do need it, which Solution should I use?

Agreed - SUSE_SLES-SP2-migration is for upgrading from SLES11 SP1 to
SLES11 SP2. How did the server get (to) SLES11 SP2? Was it a fresh
install or upgraded from SLES11 SP1? If the latter perhaps a different
procedure was followed?

That is what I thought, just wanted to confirm.

It was upgraded to SP2 using the physical media offline method. But
I’ve been using zypper more now, getting comfortable with it, and
understanding the process better, so that is what I prefer to use now.

That would explain it as the offline method doesn’t involve installing
SUSE_SLES-SPx-migration.

This has certainly improved through the SLES versions and is also my
preferred method of upgrading (though it’s not a supported option for
upgrading to SLES12).
