Access Manager upgrade

Doesn’t seem to like the forums though
However, the mobile template seems to work (kind of)
iChain may have been clunky, but it did work really well…

Except the product is EOL and the hardware (as I understand it) was out
of support. So it was do this or wait until the hardware croaked and
then panic.

I’ll take the pre-emptive action before the hardware croaks.

I know - we are in the same boat
Although we are down to the last one or two sites on iChain.
Its good to see Novell finally making the leap although it would have
been a better commercial if it had been smoother
We were lucky, we combined the main switchover with a migration to a
new domain and web site.
Even so ours went pretty darned well (he says with more than a little
pride)

Sure, but at the same time, a software company’s own implementation tends
to be extremely different from the way customers implement things.

For one thing, there is sometimes (I don’t know if it’s the case here)
the use of the company’s implementation as a testbed for technologies. I
remember talking to Microsoft IS&T personnel back when 2K3 server was in
beta, and they had several servers they had upgraded through every single
release between Server 2000 and Server 2K3 RC-whatever-was-current-at-the-
time-I-talked-with-them.

That’s not something any customer would do. But ISTR at the time they
had been through 10 intermediate in-place upgrades at that point, or
something like that.

But that may or may not be something that was done with this
implementation - I have no idea.

It’s good to hear that it went smoothly for you.
