Activation Code

Greetings,

it is possible to download SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop from two links:

1 - Evaluation Download https://www.suse.com/products/desktop/eval.html

which requires Activation code, where you can get it as described in the instructions on that page

2- Free Download https://download.suse.com/protected/Summary.jsp?buildid=Nw5At9_UZaA~ // as a registered user,

in which there is no instructions how to Activate the product if you download it from Free Download link

my question is:

How to get the activation code if downloaded from Freed Download link, and are the two downloads different or the same thing “considering expiration / evaluation period / license”

Thanking you

Jamils

Hi
As long as you have an Activation code, this can be used during or after
the install via YaST customer Center (or from the command line) you can
activate to access the online repositories.

Both links will be the same download.

Just remember to check the md5sums of the iso image and if
burning to a dvd, ensure you use the slowest burn speed.

I Have the same question.

Downloaded SLED from 60 day evaluation link and they provided a License Key, but when I try to activate the online repos it fails saying “Wrong activation code”. I’m stuck without updates.

Need your help on how to activate my 60 day evaluation installation.

Thanks in advance
Orlando

Which version of SLED are you trying to register? I’m trying to register a SLED 12 install with an evaluation code and am getting the error ‘Invalid registration code’.

I will see if I can find out from SUSE contacts if there is a problem.

Please note that it is generally considered good practice to start your own thread for your own problem rather than to post in existing old threads.

Well the evaluation code I was trying now works to register SLED 12. Can you try yours again and see if it now works? If not you can contact someone at SUSE about this by going to https://scc.suse.com/ and using the Feedback link (look on the right, it’s green).

New to SLED here, but I had the same problem.

It was resolved by waiting for my data to show up in scc.suse.com. They emailed me when it was ready. It certainly was not obvious that was going to happen, but afterword everything worked as expected when registering (post install).

Hope that helps, Matt
