Cloud for free or not?

Hello Forum Users,

I want to build a small SuSE Cloud, just for testing.

Is a Cloud consists of one Administrations Server, one Compute Node and one Control Node costless because I found following text in the SuSE Documentation? And are their necessary Updates which are not for free?

And following:
A SUSE Cloud subscription will include the following:
SUSE Cloud for SLES 11 SP3 and SLES 12 for an unlimited number of nodes
an entitlement for SLES 11 SP3 for a single Administration Server
an entitlement for SLES 11 SP3 for a single Control Node
an entitlement for the SLES 11 SP3 High Availability Extension for an unlimited number of Control Nodes

Additional SLES entitlements—for Compute Nodes, Swift Storage Nodes (optional) and additional Control Nodes—need to be purchased in addition to the SUSE Cloud subscription. Refer to http://www.suse.com/products/suse-cloud/how-to-buy/ for more information.
Thank you for reading,

Hi Flo,

If you want to build a small non-production cloud for testing, you can absolutely do that for free! In fact I gave all the details in my blog post here:

http://blog.adamspiers.org/2014/12/11/susecon-usb-stick-howto/

That appliance is based on SUSE Cloud 4 which is a bit older now. There’s an updated appliance for version 5 here:

although the way it was built means that unfortunately it’s a much bigger download. However the instructions in the blog post for trying it out should be almost exactly the same. Let us know how you get on!

Hello,

first of all I want to read about the whole topic, then I want to get it on!

Thank you very much!
