Clustering SUSE ENt. 11 on vmware

Any one have documents or recommendations about supported cluster configuration for SUSE linux on VMWARE , I need details about shared storage support on vmware when we try to create SUSE cluster?

this depends on the actual VMware product you’re using. What exactly are you looking for, and have you checked your VMware documentation and the VMware knowledge base already? AFAICT, there’s not much specific to shared storage once it comes to the setup of the clustered SLES VMs.

SLES moved the HA and clustering to the their HA product I believe.

However, I could be wrong. You can easily configure ocfs2 as a clustered
filesystem between VMs. As for the shared device, you can either expose a LUN
directly through VMware (RDM) to both hosts or you can expose a vmdk either way.

I think I may have done both ways at one time or another.

Btw, while a bit more difficult, even if you can’t get SUSE rpm access to what
you need, you can always add the software the old fashioned way (that is, by
building it yourself).

I have pretty low opinions of Linux clustering support. It works about as well
as Windows clustering does…
