DNS, WordPress, Apex (Naked Domain) - Help!

HI aii,

I’m looking for a bit of advice on a DNS issue.

I have Rancher deployed, with the Community Catalogue Wordpress up and running via a load balancer. All good.

Then I set up the DigitalOcean DNS service from teh community catalogue, and it successfully created CNAME entries for the service.

I’ve pointed www.domain.com to the CNAME for the wordpress load balancer, and it resolves correctly.

But I can’t figure out how to get the apex (naked) domain.com pointing to the load balancer - at least not in a way that will survive a change of host (and thus IP) at some point in the future.

I can’t create a CNAME entry for the apex domain to point to the load balancer, and if I point to the IP address of the load balancer it will break if I need to move the load balancer onto another host.

Any ideas?

I’ve just tested the last point (domain.com -> floating IP -> IP of load balancer) and that works. But it’s obviously not robust.
