I just tried the new route 53 dns service. I love the fact that it’s now possible to have automatic dns entries for my services / loadbalancers. But i would like to have a shorter domain name i.e. www.example.com instead of www.loadbalancers.default.example.com.
The idea is you create a CNAME record for the name you actually want to point to the long one. That way Rancher doesn’t have to take the actual name as an input, check for uniqueness, etc, and you only need to use & pay for Route53 for a single zone.
