Well, it’s still the same face, just a little older

Sounds like quite the change for you - I’ve also gone through a similar
change (actually, as of a week ago), as I’m now managing a team of
technical writers. :)
Excellent Jim - hope that you enjoy the change as much as I’ve enjoyed
mine
Cheers
Michael

Very much so. It’s been an exciting couple of weeks (well, couple of
years, really) since I started with my current company.
I just completed testing and decided to go with OES Linux.
One thing that draws me in is ‘salvage’. Really makes a very
handy recovery tool that you just don’t find an equivalent with other
NOS. I think it’s a useful tool.

OES is a great product and has some great features. I unfortunately have
not worked for anyone who needed OES, many have used SLES and I helped
migrate a retailer from running RedHat to a fully SLES environment.
It is very stable and easy to manage.
I now work for a cloud company and they are more Ubuntu focussed for
their workhorses with other OS’s running on top of that.
I am sure you will have a good time getting to grips with OES. YAST is
your friend.

OES Linux has really matured. It has been working great for me. And
I agree…salvage is a great tool. I tell my users to check that
before coming to me for a restore from backup. I rarely need to go to
my backups due to user errors because of salvage.

So my response to KeN’s comment is…
Wish that was the case here. We usually get a request for a missing /
corrupted file that “the last time they checked it” was 15 - 18 months
ago…sigh
