I am very new to SLES 12 SP3 and also Openstack. I have been reading up on what openstack is and am still confused by it.
I have a system installed with SLES 12 SP3 and downloaded Openstack Cloud 8 through the net.
As I was trying to install Cloud 8 on my SLES 12 system, I couldnt find any options to do so.
Can someone provide me with a guide on how can I install openstack cloud 8 image on SLES 12 SP3?
If you want the easiest/fast and arguably best way, it is to get SUSE
OpenStack Cloud directly from SUSE. Maybe that is what you meant, but
“downloaded it from the net” makes me think you have downloaded everything
directly from the main project, and while that should work, it is so much
harder that it is really not worth it. They do a great job of making a
great project, as most vendors of projects to, but they do not make it
nearly as easy to install as SUSE does for their platform (arguably for
any platform), which is one reason why SUSE always wins the OpenStack
install competitions over other distributions (see Google for details if
interested).
If you want to get it from SUSE, which is why this forum exists, it has
its own channel; once subscribed, you choose the pattern and go from there
(complete with documentation).
Based on the ISO files available from the above link the answer is both
yes and no. Yes because you will need DVD1 of either the Crowbar or
Cloud Lifecycle Manager (non-Crowbar) download but no because you will
need to boot from DVD1 of SLES12 SP3 (x86_64).

Will look up the guide provided. Thanks![/color]
That’s definitely a good idea as you will need to make a decision
between deploying SUSE OpenStack Cloud with Cloud Lifecycle Manager (new
with SUSE OpenStack Cloud 8) or Crowbar.

Hi Simon,
I am confused by how to install openstack with crowbar or cloud lifecycle manager.
I have SLES12 SP3 installed on my system but where can I find those two?

Now I’m confused as you originally posted a link from where you
can download either - you will need to decide whether you want to
install with Crowbar or Cloud Lifecycle Manager as you don’t need
both.
If you have registered your server you don’t actually need to
download any additional media as you should be able to add SUSE
OpenStack Cloud 8 via YaST.
I strongly suggest that you read the documentation for SUSE
OpenStack Cloud 8.
