I have tried to follow the selfstudy material for the course 3088 and I’m trying to set up the server with the newest version of SLES 10 (SP4) and I’m running the 64 bit version of SLES 10 SP4. Now in the course material it says that I should install the “kernel-xenpae” and not the “kernel-xen” but I can’t find the kernel-xenpae. What has happened to the kernel-xenpae in SLES 10 SP4? Where can I get it from? Is it not possible to run the “kernel-xenpae” in SLES 10 SP4?
Hi
The kernel-xenpae (Physical Addressing Extensions (PAE)) is only for
32bit (x86) systems to extend ram support beyond 4GB, 64bit systems
don’t require it.

Hello again!
Thanks for clarifying this. I thougt that the …pae stood for paravirtualisation or something, because the virtual machine DA-OES-A that comes with the selfstudy material refuses to start and besides it seems that the disk1 image under the da-oes-a folder is missing on the dvd that came with the self study material.
I get the following error when trying to start the da-oes-a machine:
============================================================
Error
Failed to start the VM.
Error: Boot loader didn’t return any data!
Usage: xm start
Start a Xend managed domain
-p, --paused Do not unpause domain after starting it
-c, --console_autoconnect Connect to the console after the domain is created
So, what can be wrong?
I have specified a MAC address to 00:16.3e:88:47:09
I have choosen paravirtualisation
I have created one harddisk with the SLES 10 SP1 DVD
I have created a second harddrive with the DA-OES-A disk0 image
the disk1 image under DA-OES-A is missing from my media.

If there’s missing files, you’ll want to e-mail sstechsupport@novell.com
to get the missing files.
Unless the DA-OES-A system is built during the course (with the 3088
course, I don’t recall if that’s the case or not).
