Install SLES 11 SP1 from USB Pen Drive

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server SLES Install-Boot

Hi,
i have a HP Server DL 380 G7 without DVD Drive. My attempts to create a
USB Pen Drive with SLES 11 SP1, to start the installation from there,
failed so far. Is there a way to do this?

Grab the JeOS version and use ImageWriter to install on the USB device?

What OS are you using to create the image?

You could also use SuSE Studio to create a bootable USB version.

I’m not sure if the dvd images for SP1 are isohybrid, hence you
troubles with a dvd. A CD size is much easier.

Hi,
i used the original iso from SLES1 SP1. I resolved my Problem, in which
i aktivate th ILO Board in the ProLiant Server and install the System
over the wire.

Cool, yeah those remote server install options are great! :slight_smile:

For reference, this is what I did to get SLES running on a desktop that
had no CD : ‘Creating SLES 11 USB install media | DiWi’
(http://diwi.nl/node/47)
It’s from long ago, but should still work.
