Trying to download kernel-debuginfo for susel11.1 server.
My acct is linked to my company’s acct, which should be active,
but, I have no activation keys, etc.; I believe it is a site license.
I have no products listed in the cust care center and couldn’t find
anything there that indicated the URLs to add for manual config of
repos.
A search of the download site for kernel-debuginfo results in zero
hits
The only repos I have are DVD repos in yast2
I don’t see any obvious way of adding the SLE11-SP1-Debuginfo-Pool
and
SLE11-SP1-Debuginfo-Updates repositories in yast2 > software > soft
mngmt
If I try to go to yast2 > other > novell cust center config, it
can’t connect
to the server.
If I try to go to yast2 > other > support, I get page not found.

Can you post the output from the command line;
cat /etc/SuSE-release
There must be some activation keys somewhere with your organization, if
not you would need to raise a Support Request from the NCC web page to
get it resolved.

initiated, internally, as well as with Novell.

You could logon to the SLES download page and grab an evaluation code.
They are good for 60 days and then you can delete that system from NCC
and add your proper code once you track it down.
Ok, I got an eval license and a “code”. I presume that this code will
allow me to access the kernel-debuginfo pkg. I went to the downloads
page, not knowing any better method of getting the pkg, and searched for
kernel-debuginfo and got zero results. I know that there is some way of
adding repos to my list on the relevant host with zypper, but i haven’t
been able to find the appropriate URLs. I believe that I need the
SLE11-SP1-Debuginfo-Pool and SLE11-SP1-Debuginfo-Updates repos if I’m

Register the system via YaST → Novell Cusomer Center or
from the command line;
suse_register -a email=<your_novell_login_email> -a regcode-sles=<you_activation_code>
This will add all the repositories, you can then enable via YaST →
Software Repositories.
And I added this to yast > network services > proxy as well as
~/.bash_profile. I tried adding to ~/.curlrc but got errors:

Where curl is 7.19.0 and the .curlrc had this:
I searched the internet and it seems that there are some issues with
setting http proxies in .curlrc. I ran curl with -x $http_proxy and
that had the same output as running without -x, which is the html from a
novell page that included stuff like this:

So, it appears that it is working; i.e., it is connecting to novell and
getting a denial page.
Now, when I run curl, it just sits there, with no output. It has been
sitting there now for about 14 minutes, which seems kind of long, but
I’m willing to let it go longer, if that is what is required.
I need to install read crash dump on SLES SP1, SP2, and SP3 and want to do it from the same server, I’m assuming if I have the correct kernel-debuginfo* packages,
even if the OS is running SP3, it will still read crash dumps taken from SP2 and SP1 kernels?
But where on earth can you get the repos added. I can’t even find out where to download them. Do you really have to have a license subscription to get the packages? and even then where are they located.

If you check the Customer Center → My Products → Mirror Credentials
shows the user name and password, plus the URL’s (which includes the
debuginfo ones). Yes you need an active subscription to get updates
etc…

Do you really have to have a license subscription to get the packages?
You need to have your system registered, which can be also be done with a free 60-day trial license. Registering the system will add the repositories to your system - if you ever loose those, i.e. because you delete them manually, simply rerun suse_register without any parameters to get them re-added.
You may have to configure proxy settings (both in ~root/.curlrc and in /etc/sysconfig/proxy) to reach the registration service and repositories, depending on your setup. If your site is using an SMT server or SUSE Manager as a registration/update focal point, please contact that server’s admin for details.
