lsusb does not show any device. SLES10

Hi all,

I m facing some troubles regarding the usb detection. I’ve done a fresh install of SLES 10 with a 2.6 kernel and I m unable to detect any of my usb buses. There is no information at all in lsusb about them. I found out that e/uhci_hcd modules aren’t being loaded but after do a “modprob with them” there is no change either. This is happening over a new ASUS laptop. I really don’t know how to get trough this to make my laptop usable.

Any insight about this would be very appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

You’ve referenced and posted in a SLES Forum yet mention laptop.
Is there a reason why SLES and not SLED which is the Desktop
edition?

Can I also ask which Service Pack level of SLES10? Why SLES10 SPx
and not later SLES11 SP4 or SLES12 SP1?

Finally which ASUS model is your laptop?

HTH.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

I don’t know if the reasons to run a server version over a desktop one are important for solving this problem, but I have to use it. Could be a problem related with desktop vs server? Regarding the version, it is SLES10 SP1, it is just the version I have.

I booted with a live cd to see if it could be a problem related with my ports but in this case the usb’s are perfectly detected.

Finally, the ASUS model is GL752VW.

Thank you.

SLES10 SP1 is very old with general support having ended in November
2008 and also no longer supported under Long Term Service Pack Support.

Which live CD did you use? That might give us a clue as to which later
version of SLES might work.

Your laptop is relatively new so I’m not surprised SLES10 SP1 doesn’t
work - actually I’m surprised if it’s just the USB ports you’re having a
problem with!

Hello, thank you again.

Yes, there are several things not working, but USBs is the most critical for using the mouse at least, that would be just enough.

I ve tried looking for drivers but I was not able to find anything…

Thank you for your support anyway, i guess I ll have to choose a virtual solution.
