Make Alias for New Added Multipath Device

Hello experts,

We added a new multipath device whose name is like this 3600143801259e1140000400001360000, we want to make a alias md_disk3 for this.

To make the alias take into effect, we have to restart multipath service with command service multipath restart.

I am afraid that if the existing multipath disks are affected during the multipath service restart, (for example, I/O error…) is it right?

I’ve no idea what the answer to your question is, but I am wondering if you have posted in the place that’s most likely to make your post seen by people who may be able to help you. multipath storage is something I’d expect to find on a server rather than a desktop, especially multi multipath disks as you indicate you are dealing with. You’ve posted in the Desktop form but I wonder if you’re actually using Server and may do better to post in the Server forum at https://forums.suse.com/forumdisplay.php?8-SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server
