Make Alias for New Added Multipath Device

Hello experts,

We added a new multipath device whose name is like this 3600143801259e1140000400001360000, we want to make a alias md_disk3 for this.

To make the alias take into effect, we have to restart multipath service with command service multipath restart.

I am afraid that if the existing multipath disks are affected during the multipath service restart, (for example, I/O error…) is it right?

Restarting the multipathd will in general not destroy existing multipath
devices. If ever possible stopping all I/O on these prior to the
operation might still be considered a sensible measure of precaution.
