Just wondering if anyone here is using some solution for central
monitoring of Event Logs on Windows workstations, in order to catch
common errors etc? What is the “Novell way” of doing this?

Novell/NetIQ Sentinel can pick up security events from windows
workstations, though usually it is used for focusing on more-important
systems like DCs or member servers, not to mention products like
eDirectory, IDM, databases, firewalls, routers, etc.

Check out Solarwinds Log & Event Manager as well. They have a version
specifically for workstation logging.
