One annoyance I’ve noticed in windows 8.1 is this. When I close any
window, the mouse pointer will auto center on whatever other window was
the last active and make it the active window.
Is there any way to turn this off? I’d much rather have the mouse
pointer where I left it when I closed out the last active window.

To clarify, this only seems to happen when I close a window with the
mouse.

Sorry. I’m no help. I upgraded from 8.1 to 7 when I determined 8.x
couldn’t handle all the myriad of USB drives I constantly use.

This isn’t enabled is it?
Control Panel → Mouse → Pointer Options → Automatically move pointer
to the default button in a dialog box

So my response to Scott’s comment is…
Nope, that is not enabled.

This article also pertains to Windos 8. Could this be what’s
happening?

So my response to Susan’s comment is…
Don’t believe so as that option is not selected.
