MySQL on SLES 11 S1

Could not find a DB specifc forum so I though i’d post here

SUSE 11 SP1 comes with MySQL 5.0.x and I needed MySQL 5.1.61 or higher.
So I un-installed from yast2 then downloaded MySQL 5.5.x RPM and installed it.

To my supprize, the my.cnf does not get created when you install from RPM. Does anyone know what the standard my.cnf should look like? (an example).
I need to tailor the my.cnf for high write functions for a specific application called Homer Sip Capture.

Thanks

I’m not sure about this as I stick to using the packages provided with SUSE. But have a look in /usr/share/mysql. There should be some template files there IIRC.
