Seems a bit strange you can get a gold medal for pointing a gun at a target
and squeezing your finger while others have to run over 26 miles or lift
huge weights etc.

Arthur sounds like they ‘said’:

So my response to Arthur’s comment is…
Or play over 540 minutes of ‘futbol’, 3 games to qualify for quarter
finals, then gotta win 3 or 4 more.

That’s nothing. The guy who’s considered the father of the modern
Olympic games, Pierre de Coubertin, wanted to have Olympic competitions
in the arts.
Never tried target shooting have you?

It actually happened.
For example, in 1948, the last time the Summer Olympics were held in
London, Alfred Thomson, a Brit, won Gold in oils & water colours whilst
a fellow Brit, John Copley, got a Silver in engravings & etchings aged
73, at the time the oldest competitor (but now no longer considered so
because Arts no longer part of Olympics).[/color]

Gotta say it makes sense (though I wouldn’t have stripped the winners
from the record books - that seems a jerk move)
on your marks gets set get ready SCULPT!

Oh, I don’t know. Who’s John Galt?
True, but you also get to choose what you want to train in, to try for
the gold medal, so if you’re, shall we say “enthusiastic” enough to
pick running the marathon, instead of target shooting, you’ve only
yourself to blame! : )

LOL! How true.
Tangent: I’ve been thinking how unfair life is for other athletes when
Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian in history. To be
fair they would have to have:
Skeet shooting (1 skeet)
Skeet shooting (2 skeet)
Skeet shooting (4 skeet)
Skeet shooting relay (4 skeet, 4 people, one gun)
Skeet shooting facing backwards looking into a mirror
One eyed skeet shooting
Skeet shooting using live doves
Skeet shooting using live pheasants
Synchronized skeet shooting (doubles)
Synchronized skeet shooting (team)
etc. etc.

The Olympics seem to be going fairly smoothly, fingers crossed.

LOL! I read recently that the last London Olympics in the early 1900’s
they used live birds. Times DO change, thank goodness. : )

Yes, from our perspective in California, they look great, the venues are
fantastic, the athletes are doing a great job with just a few
exceptions, and it’s been lots of fun to watch. And I don’t
particularly like sports! LOL!

Hey, with live pheasants, at least the athletes would have something
fresh to eat instead of McDonalds after the competition.
