Olympics

Wow, Japan is playing some aggressive football, trying to get back to
level agains the US women.

So my response to Stevo’s comment is…

Can’t quite understand why Megan Rapino was subbed out, IMO she’s the
catalyst for the US team.

To prove my point, within 5-10 minutes of her being subbed out, Japan
scores & now it’s 2-1. WHOLE lotta time left in this one.

I was using ‘proper’ terms to appease the masses in here, trying not to
Americanize the olympics.

Didn’t matter in the end. U.S. Won.

True, but they seem to get complacent when they get a lead. They
definitely got outplayed for much of the match.

No. They slept through much of the match.

Are you talking football or the whole Olympics Team GB? Neither of our
women’s or men’s football did well but Team GB as a whole were
definitely #ourgreatestteam!

My wife and I were at the match and I thought Megan Rapinoe (with an e)
was subbed because she was proving less effective than she was earlier
in the match.

Your Carli Lloyd looked a useful player and wouldn’t be out of place in
some of our Premiership teams, except of course she’s female (that’s got
to happen one day right?).

Well as you know it ended 2-1 and USA won the gold with Japan getting
silver (Canada won the bronze in an earlier play-off match). I was glad
to see that both teams wanted to win as that doesn’t always happen plus
some teams play negatively which doesn’t allow the game to flow.

I’m quite proud that we were 2 of a record 80,203 attendance for a
women’s Olympics football match. That did lead to an interesting journey
back to our hotel though as we all pretty much left the stadium together.

My wife and I also had tickets for women’s handball and men’s
volleyball, both bronze medal matches, plus managed to get tickets to go
up the Orbit tower next to the stadium. We tried for athletics tickets
but at least by going up the tower we got to see inside.

There was a great atmosphere at all the events plus London itself was
buzzing. We’re glad we were able to be a part of it!

That’s pretty cool, being part of a record crowd IIRC. Yes, I bet it
was possibly an adventure leaving after the match.
