Darn! I really wanted another shot to mess with these guys.
So…we got one of those calls from ‘microsoft’, saying there
is something wrong with a windows computer, at our office number.
Did I mention I work in an IT office?
Well the call got routed to me (per the receptionist, Steve will love
taking this call), and hit my phone button to record the call (you
know, for posterity), but about 20 seconds in the call was
lost…sigh.

So my response to KeN’s comment is…
Yep, was kinda fun when they called me at home, wanted another shot as
I didn’t go crazy with messing with them, just acted like an idiot user
for 5 minutes or so before mentioning the computer was linux (but said
way incorrectly) and they got mad and hung up.

hung up on… Was surprised at the comment given I didn’t string them
along, but just wanted my phone/life back.

for Microsoft too - what division are you in?” to which the response was
a fairly hasty hangup…

Heh, reminds me of someone I knew in high school - got a call from a
survey company, and the first question was “how many phones do you have
in your home?”
She answered “zero”.

I read a story somewhere about a guy got a call from one of those
hacker / spammers wanting to ‘help them fix their corrupt computer’.
He tells them to hang on and he’ll get his son as the son is more
technically savvy, caller gets all excited.
Guy proceeds to hand the phone to his 5 year old, telling the kid it’s
Batman on the phone.
