Are there any plans on supporting CentOS7/8 for Rancher-provided vSphere/ESXi nodes? From what I’ve seen “only” RancherOS is supported. I apologize if I have misinterpreted this.

Could you please share a link to documentation which describes how to correctly create CentOS 7 VMware VM template which can be used to provision RKE managed k8s nodes with cloud-init (I assume you use it as RancherOS does)?

I haven’t done anything “special” apart from what I mentioned in my Photon OS post you’re referring to. However, make sure your CentOS7 VM template has cloud-init installed otherwise Rancher will not be able to setup the ssh-keys etc.
