Since Rancher went into Beta from June of 2015, we’ve gotten over 500k+ server downloads with over a million Rancher agents installed by you, our open source community. We like to thank each and every one of you for helping us improve our product whether it is through finding issues (some have been really good ones that we probably may have never found except in your environment), suggesting enhancements/features you’d like, or just providing general user experience feedback. The usage and responses from you guys have been tremendous and extremely helpful in preparing for our upcoming 1.0 Rancher GA release next week.
If you haven’t already noticed, we have slowed down in our usual release cycles since earlier this year as we have been focusing more on general bug fixing and performance/scale testing. Starting today, we plan to ship release candidates for our 1.0.0 GA release that hopefully you will be able to install and help us do some last minute testing. We hope that with your help, we will be able to ship a quality 1.0.0 release that we can be proud of and will provide no surprises for those of you that have it running in production already.
NOTE: Please do not upgrade any existing deployments with this release as it does not contain all the DB migration scripts for a proper upgrade. Only new installs please. We will explicitly note the RC release that has gone through our normal upgrade testing.
