Hi
What release of SLES are you running? Because your changing the kernel
if your running an out of kernel driver eg HP RAID, you need to have
the kernel module that matches the running kernel.

Maybe some more info on the hardware your running will help.

Hi
So there are no driver disks you need to use for the equipment?

no. We already added the vcpu, i thought this sles 9 was going to
automatically see it, i am more on the red hat than sles so I am puzzle
with this. We even rebooted the vm machine and the os does not see it.
Is there a command for this to see it. thank you for your help.

nvasquez,

are you looking at the VM or at the physical machine? What is your
exact environment? From your comment I understand that you’re running
SLES9 in a VM and am wondering why you do not see the (physical) HBA
inside the VM.

Where did you do the upgrade? Did you swap the physical CPU, then added
more vCPUs to the VM and went for the SMP kernel inside the VM?

Did you have access to the SAN inside the VM before the upgrade?

Recompiling drivers and alike after a kernel change/upgrade is usually
only required if you have vender-supplied source code for specific
devices.

Regards,
Jens
