Renaming a system group

Hi,

I’m looking for a way to rename a system group using spacecmd. I’ve found group details, delete, create and so on. But how can I simply rename a system group?

Hi
AFAIK it can only be done via the web interface by editing the system group properties.

Thanks for your answer. I appreciate it a lot.

However, if this is really true, I seriously question the sanity if SUSE developers. I honestly hope this is a joke. I really do.

Hi
Perhaps an enhancement request upstream to the spacewalk developers…?
https://github.com/spacewalkproject/spacewalk

I only see the following for groups…
https://www.suse.com/documentation/suse-manager-3/3.2/susemanager-advanced-topics/html/book.suma.advanced.topics/at.mgr.spacecmd.command.guide.html#at.spacecmd.group

Well, yes, technically I could do this. However, if an enterprise solution provider did not think about implementing a simple rename command I doubt an enhancement request will fix it. Sorry, but something like this I would expect from some privately built experimental basement distro and not from an “Enterprise Server” that costs me thousands of bucks every year. This is ridiculous… and a shame for SUSE.

Yes, exactly. And I cannot find any rename or move command.

Bucks, behave yourself ! I will not tolerate this and your previous comment in this forum.

SUSE Manager is based on Spacewalk, which was recently forked as www.uyuni-project.org. This software is in use by thousands of organizations which, apparently, never saw the need to rename a system group.

If you paid for SUSE Manager, you can file a respective support request. It usually takes 4-6 weeks to ship such a change as a maintenance update.

If you did not pay, you can either ask for an enhancement by opening an issue on github (https://github.com/uyuni-project/uyuni) or contribute code via a respective pull request.

Our organization pays thousands of bucks every year. We are your customer. So maybe when it comes to behaving I could at least ask for software that actually is an enterprise software. Wouldn’t you agree? I try to stay polite. But from a customer view Q&A is not existent. And you might understand that I’m not willing to pay for beta software.

We have years of experience with SUSE support. So while I try to stay polite it is difficult at times.

And if an enterprise Linux developer like SUSE tells me that thousands of customers never saw a need to rename system groups, I honestly ask myself if I’m part of “candid camera”. And that was indeed a very polite statement of me.
