Running SLES on a Netbook??

I wish to install SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 on a netbook for an
afternoon project that I am working on.

The netbook I have in mind is an eMachines e350 with 1GB RAM and 160GB
HD and 1.66 Ghz uP.
e.g.
‘Acer eMACHINES E350 10.1 INCH ATOM N450 1GB 160GB WIN 7 STARTER BLACK
LU.NAH0D.118 - Acer Direct’
(http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_eMACHINES_E350_10.1_INCH_ATOM_N450_1GB_160GB_WIN_7_STARTER_BLACK_LU.NAH0D.118/version.asp)

Would this be suitable for running this distro?

Thanks

Whilst unsupported it should work. After all some Atom-powered netbooks
are distributed with SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED).

It may also depend on what you’re wanting to test as obviously the
specification (CPU and RAM) will limit you.

Hi
I’ve been running SLE on my ASUS 1000HE N280 for a couple of years,
fortunately the wireless and bluetooth worked fine. Check the wireless
chip would be my recommendation. I think you can run 64bit on the N450
cpu, you might want to invest in a 2GB RAM stick though.

With SLE SP1 it’s still a little wonky with dealing with the 1024x600
resolution on some of the install screens, much better on SP2 (from my
testing).

If you don’t have an external cd/dvd for it, then I would suggest you
use http://susestudio.com to build a USB installable image and use that
to install from.
