A forum post isn’t going to cause a package to get updated. Forums are not an official support channel. If you’d like to see a package updated/modified because of a problem with the version currently provided and you have a subscription which allows you to raise a Service Request, do that. If you don’t, you can try raising a Bug Report https://www.suse.com/support/report-a-bug/
Generally packages don’t get updated to significant new versions (Firefox is a notable exception) because part of the point of SLED is stability.
Sometimes you can you find a newer unofficial unsupported package at the openSUSE Build Service https://software.opensuse.org click (the spanner on the right to select distro) but I can’t see an IPython for SLED 11 SP3.
I just looked and IPython isn’t included in SLED 12 or the equivalent SDK. I don’t know why.

PS. Does anyone know why "…IPython " at the end of the last plain text URL above is changed to "…IPyth on " when previewing/posting…?[/QUOTE]
The forum software applies automatic formatting. You can make the forum software leave text alone by wrapping it in CODE tags. Look for the # button when composing a post (if you don’t see it click ‘Go Advanced’.
