SLES 11 SP2 DVD

I know I can download the SLES 11 SP2 from the site. But for some reason, the disk which I burned never worked. Is there a place I can get a installation DVD directly?

Thanks

Tim

Hi
Did you check the iso image md5sum? What did you use to burn the image
to a DVD?

I’m in a similar situation as the OP; spent a long time downloading the DVD ISO’s, both files have checksum errors (the files themselves). I’d rather not wait to see if it downloads again (realy wish there was a torrent option), does SUSE / Novell offer physical media? Can’t seem to find it anywhere other than a 3rd party, and i’d very much rather go through Novell if at all possible (paranoia :P)

I don’t know if physical media is available with the product purchase,
but the technical subscriptions library does come with it on physical
media.

What is the MD5 checksum you end up with (be sure to identify the
specific ISO filename as well)? I can compare to what I get when I
download it and that can help determine if it’s a problem with your
download or with the file that’s been posted.

As soon as i’m back at that computer i will post with the checksum. In all honesty, i believe the issue is with my connection, this has happened to me before; that’s why i usually opt for a torrent download, corrects the errors. And where it very well might be a connection issue, i’d hate to have to try again only for it to fail again.

If anyone knows of trustworthy 3rd party company that supplies current SLES / SLED installation media, let me know, i’d greatly appreciate it

Hi
If you look at the ‘Download Manger’ link on the iso
download page, it is actually recommends to use wget -c
(see man page for even more options on wget).

I’ve never had issues with the above command…

As promised, here’s the checksum (i had already deleted the SLES ISO, this is for SLED dvd 1)

d7d546a63c063792635d324e013118c5 SLED-11-SP2-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD1.iso

Per the website, it should be (e5e4b35a640bccdae81625f89e872c13)

Also, I actually tried wget first lol (and again just now as a sanity check, to make sure it all-of-a-sudden didn’t magically start working). i used the template provided in the instructions, and right clicked the download link and selected “copy link address” and used that as the download target. I’ll post the command i’m using here just in case i did something totally wrong:

wget --http-user=**** --http-password=**** ‘http://download.novell.com/sendredirect?target=%2Fprot%2FHJJrgsvxzd4~%2FSLED-11-SP2-DVD-x86_64-GM-DVD1.iso&buildid=HJJrgsvxzd4~&fileid=hAoUUDoaWIA~&mirror=AkamaiHost&nohost=false

EDIT - to clarify, the wget method doesnt end up downloading anything, it fails

Hi
The url should just be;

But it errors for me… will ask my Novell contacts to check…

I tried as well, errors for me too. Let me know what you find…

I just finished downloading it again and the checksum is correct; burning it to dvd now to make sure it works. As for the OP’s original question, does anyone know where one can get packaged installation media for SUSE, or if it even exists? i know it did for 10…

Also, OP - when you downloaded the ISO, did you verify the checksum?

Hi
Seems there is a bug being worked on, the workaround is to add
–auth-no-challenge after your password…

It exists, I had tons of such DVDs… Novell/SUSE are giving away these DVDs at conferences, events for example.

Unfortunately, I don’t have the opportunity anymore to get these - but I bet they’ll happily send you some if you request it. Try suse.com and get a call.

Novell has DVDs… if you’re on NESDL… you get the DVDs (quite a bit later
than when first released though)… in other words… I have the DVDs.

How are you downloading? Via a web browser, download manager, etc. On
which platform?
