Hi,
Anybody have a procedure to install SLES 15 in z/VM 6.4 for a non-ssi z/VM? I can’t find “Virtualization Cookbook for z/VM 6.4 for SLES 15” redbook. Thanks in advance.

Hello mikhaelj,
If you have installed an older SLES version like SLES11 or 12 in a z/VM guest then the procedure is very similar. Follow chapter 1 in the Virtualization Cookbook for SLES12 but use the bootstrap files from SLE-15-Installer-DVD-s390x-GM-DVD1.iso. I do not see any SSI specific information in sections 1.1 and 1.2 of the virtualization cookbook.
An additional source of information is the SLES15 documentation. This is the link - https://www.suse.com/documentation/sles-15/singlehtml/book_sle_deployment/book_sle_deployment.html#cha.zseries - to the section about installing SLES15 on IBM Z.
One difference between SLES12 and SLES15 is that you will need to copy the contents of the SLE-15-Installer-DVD-s390x-GM-DVD1.iso and the SLE-15-Packages-s390x-GM-DVD1.iso into separate directories on the FTP server that will serve the SLES installation data. Setting up the FTP server is in the cookbook but it is also in the SLES15 deployment guide - https://www.suse.com/documentation/sles-15/singlehtml/book_sle_deployment/book_sle_deployment.html#sec.prep.makeavail.
Regards,
Mike
