this is my first post here. As I have to reinstall a system which recently crashed, I need the install disks/ISOs (latter are preferred) for SLES 8 for AMD64/x86-64. Novell are no longer offering them for download, so does anyone know where I can find the set of four ISOs? According to them, the files are named as follows:

while SLES8 is obviously pretty old, it catches the eye that you’re on top looking for “RC7” ISOs, which does suspiciously sound like some beta version.
SLES8 was basically UnitedLinux with a few add-on packages by SuSE (mostly YaSt, iirc), release in November 2002.
You should consider trying to get your hands on SLES8SP4, which is to my knowledge the latest patch level of SLES8.

Jens
PS: My “files archive” doesn’t reach back to SLES8 - but I’ll have to have a closer look at my physical media archive (I’m off-site until next week)… while it is unlikely, I might still have the SLES8 media in there.

Hi Jens,
thanks for your answer. I’m aware that SLES8 isn’t the latest and greatest anymore but the specific machine has been running it flawlessly until the hard disk died, so to keep things simple I’d prefer to stick with something that works for me.
as you will most probably have guessed on your own… while I found some pretty old SUSE CDs, no SLES8 was to be found.
Have you considered opening a service request with SUSE? SLES8 isn’t supported of course, but maybe some SUSE engineer might offer you a download link for ISOs?
