SLES fro System Z Installation Problems

SLES 12 Install

The original proposal for installation resides on dasda (3390-3) and does not have enough space to install the software. I tried deleting the dasda2 2.1GB / area and creating a 3 volume group for /. When I did that I had received an ERROR Code -4010 at the time the proposal was executed when it attempt to create the volume group. I continued anyway and had for creating, formatting and mounting.

Is there something I’m missing?

Thanks,

Jamie

Our installation problems have been resolved. We did the following:

• Once all dasd has been activated and formatted and the proposal screen listed changes must be made in order to accommodate the installation. One 3390 model 3 volume is not large enough to accommodate the installation so volume groups need to be defined. From the Expert Partitioner do the following:

Changed the root file system from BTRFS to EXT3. It still remained 2.10 GB in size
Partitioned all dasd specifying file system EXT3 with no mount point
Created volume groups and logical volume groups using file system EXT3. We used mount points /opt, /var & /usr. The /usr must be minimum of two 3390-3 volumes

• Continue to the Installation Settings screen and do the following:

o Disable the firewall
o Disable the Blacklisted Devices
o Do NOT write the Clone System Configuration

Unless we did all of the above the SUSE 12 installation would not complete successfully.
