Hi everyone. Sorry if this answer already exists, I’ve had a look around but got a little confused so I thought I’d just ask.
Problem
My company uses vCenter5 which authenticates against AD and NIS only. Problem is we only use OpenLDAP. What I’d like to do is setup a Windows AD server just for vCenter5 that pulls in users from an openLDAP group.
If that does not work you may want to look at Novell’s Open Enterprise
Server (OES). It is built on top of SLES and one of the features you
can get is known as Domain Services for Windows which is basically a
microsoft active directory (MAD)-like interface to eDirectory. You
could also synchronize to/from your OpenLDAP system (if you wanted to)
so that identities in both environments were in sync, though eDirectory
(on which DSfW runs, and which is also part of OES) provides LDAP
interfaces by default so you could probably just run everything from the
one server without doing any other tweaking.
Just a thought.
Good luck.
