SLES11 - Why is option "autoadddevices" disabled by default in xorg.conf?

I checked with SLES11-SP3 and SP4.
In both systems autoadddevices is disabled if not specified in the xorg.conf.
In the documentation it states that the default state is “enabled”.
Am I missing something here?
