Are the roads cleared before you head up there? We were on the tail-end
of the road clearing schedule for a number of years, and wouldn’t see a
snow plow until just before noon. They come much earlier now, so some
politician must be living in the area. : )

Not if I can help it. I love driving through a foot or so of fresh
powder snow. There are snowmobile runs up there as well as some
private cabins and the forest service has a couple of plows stationed
midway up the canyon so it usually gets plowed pretty quickly. If we
get snow overnight we head up there early in the morning to beat the
plows and usually meet them when we’re on our way back down.
Powder or fresh packed snow isn’t difficult at all. When it turns to
ice pack is when I don’t like it. Having a good 4wd vehicle makes a
big difference too.
