Upgrade kde in SLES11 sp2

I have no idea where should I ask this question.

I’m using SLES 11 SP2 with kde 4.3.5.

And I’d to upgrade to kde 4.6. But I can’t find any information online.

Does anyone know how to do?

Thanks

Hi DiegoSuseYooY,

I have no idea where should I ask this question.

I’d say “Configure-Administer” might have been a better place to ask, since this forum here is about the updates provided by SuSE… but the question, slightly rephrased, isn’t off-topic (“Is there an update to KDE 4.6 for SLES11SP2?”), so let’ simply continue here

I’d to upgrade to kde 4.6. But I can’t find any information online.

AFAICT, there’s no official update package bringing SLES11 to KDE 4.6, so you’d be leaving the path of a “supported install”. If that’s not what you have in mind, then the answer seems to be “not available”.

I had a quick look at software.opensuse.org, but couldn’t spot pre-build packages for SLES. You might want to try some “factory” version, although I doubt they would install right of of the box. And those are, from what I can tell, at 4.10 already

Regards,
Jens

Can I ask why would you want to do this?

SLES is SUSE Linux Enterprise Server where “Enterprise” means supported
and “Server” means not a desktop. Until SUSE provide packages for SLES,
installing KDE 4.6.x on SLES would be unsupported.

Now I’m working for a company, we use SLES 11 sp2 as our server.
We provide kde for user to use the application we developed.
However, we don’t want user to change any setting in kde, so we’d to disable all right click menu.
But it seems to be impossible to do that unless we upgrade kde.
That’s why I’m asking for help.

According to your description, upgrade kde seems to be impossible.(Even 4.4 or 4.5?):frowning:

Thank again for your help.

Hi all,
I’ve solved the right click problem.
So I don’t need to upgrade kde now.

Thanks!!
