Hello All,
newbie here.
I have go through notes from portal.
Upgrading from SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 GA / SP1 / SP2 / SP3
Upgrading from SLES 15 GA, SP1, SP2, or SP3 directly is no longer supported. You need at least SLES 15 SP4 before you can proceed to SLES 15 SP5.
anyone have success to do upgrade from SP2 to SP5 ?
If you have SLES15 SP2 with Long Term Service Pack Support (LTSS) then you would be supported to upgrade directly to SP5 but otherwise the only supported way to get from SP2 directly to SP5 is to build a new SP5 server then migrate all data and services across.
Have you checked for any prerequisites or dependencies that need to be addressed before proceeding with the upgrade, such as ensuring compatibility with existing software or hardware configurations?
Doing it seems to be useless thing as it probably be including things from SP3 and SP4 which will be including multiple libraries and dependencies for which it is better to follow the update path.
Done jumping from SP2 to SP5 under impression that it will be fine as both belongs to 15 version, but was not a success and got stuck on startup while boot after update, although the update process did not gave any error.
There should be a check during upgrade if pre-req have been fulfilled or not, unfortunately no checks found while update process.
