Upgrading to SP1 - with Suse manager inplace

I’m looking for the the best pratice path for upgrading a SLSE 12 SP0 to SP1.

Catch - we are also using suse manager 3 and our keys are based on OS version so they get the correct repos. System is currently registered with our SLES12-SP0 key.

What I’m thinking of doing:

Upgrade the OS to SP1 using the CD method then re-register the system with suse manager using the SP1 key.

If there is a better or prefered way of doing this please let me know.

Thanks

Hi
I used SuMA to upgrade my SLES and SLED systems (SP Migration from
memory), schedule a dry run first to pick up any potential issues (and
correct where required), once any conflicts sorted, set it to do the
migration… When SP2 comes out I plan to do the same.

Within a system you should be able to see “SP Migration” which, if your
channels are available and setup properly, will let you test and then
schedule an actual SP migration like you are describing. This was
available in SUSE Manager 2.1 as well, for what it’s worth, and is part of
the “traditional” clients (vs. the Salt clients in new SUSE Manager 3).

Good luck.

Looks like i have some reading to do. We are still learning about the new features like Salt - like I said the keys are setup based on OS os a SLES 12 SP0 only has the repos for that version. Would I need to add SP1 repos to the system in order to do the update ?
