Verify SP3 update procedure.

Good Day all,

I have already setup & Use SMT mirror and downloaded/synced SP3 Pool & Updates repos.

for testing i setup a VM with SP2 , then i performed the following:

installed latest SP2 patches (zypper patch)
created & enabled SP3 repos (from my SMT mirror)
performed zypper patch then zypper update
reboot
zypper update
disabled SP2 repos

i see SP3 in /etc/SUSE-release & /etc/issue.

do you think am i ok or i am missing something? :slight_smile:

your description differs from the officially recommended way of updating via “zypper”, see https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7012368 (“2) Update by using zypper”), especially you’re not running a “distribution update”. Did you have any specific reason to go a different route?

As this was just a test setup, I’d say re-run it the officially documented way, to be on the safe side.
