Can't add repositories after registration

I just joined developer subscription yesterday to evaluate SLES 11 SP4.

I found that repositories could not be added after registration and it showed the following message:

“Software repositories did not need to be changed.”

Do you know the solution of this issue?

Hi godfreychung,

welcome to the forums.

Just for the records: the current version is SLES 15 - so if you don’t have a specific need for SLES 11 SP4, I strongly recommend to switch to that latest version.

Regarding your case, what does “zypper lr” (which stands for “list repositories” and should be run from the command line as root) say - does it already list some repositories?

Regards,
J

Hi jmozdzen

Thank you for the information.

Here is the output of “zypper lr”:

| Alias | Name | Enabled | Refresh

–±-------------------------------------------------±-------------------------------------------------±--------±-------
1 | SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-11-SP4 11.4.4-1.109 | SUSE-Linux-Enterprise-Server-11-SP4 11.4.4-1.109 | Yes | No

Actually, I tried to install SLES 11 SP4 and SLES 12. Only SLES 12 can add repositories after registration.

Hi godfreychung,

do you see any indication of which server is being used for registration? You also may want to check the logs, iirc registration logs to a (hidden) file in root’s home directory (“ls -lrta ~root” shows the files in root’s home dir sorted by modification date, recent files last) - or is anything related to be found under /var/log?

Regards,
J

Hi jmozdzen

Here is /root/.suse_register.log.

Hi godfreychung,

looks all fine so far. Generallly, I’d say “contact SUSE support”… but there’s one more thing that might give a clue: If you look at the NCC entry for this license (https://www.novell.com/ncc), does it show that it is still valid? The data should also be transferred to SUSE Customer Center automatically, so you may want to take a look at that system’s entries as well (https://scc.suse.com).

All in all I see no obvious error on your behalf, so if the license is reported to be still valid, I’d opt for contacting SUSE support.

Regards,
J
