Error Network on VM Build

Hi Everyones;

I try make a vm-debian

1’ I have my debian8.gz.img which works with all virtio drivers
2’ I transfer this file into my docker/rancher host.
3’ This host have KVM enable

  • Virtualization: VT-x
  • Hypervisor vendor: KVM
  • Virtualization type: full

4’ I’d clone the git

  • cd ./vm/image
  • cp -R base debian
  • cd debian

5’ Make a new Dockerfile with

FROM rancher/vm-base:0.0.3

COPY debian8.gz.img /base_image/debian8.gz.img
CMD [“-m 512m”]

6’ Docker build -t debian8 .

7’ Than run it with docker run -ti -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/dock.sock debian8

To finally receive an error on my eth0

  • NEWIP=172.16.0.8
    • ip link set dev eth0 down
      RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
    • ip link set eth0 address 06:FE:6B:28:0C:58
      RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
    • ip addr del 172.17.0.8/16 dev eth0
      RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
    • brctl addbr br0
add bridge failed: Operation not permitted
    • brctl addif br0 eth0
      bridge br0 does not exist!
    • ip link set dev eth0 up
      RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
    • ip link set dev br0 up
      Cannot find device “br0”
    • ‘[’ -z ‘]’
    • ip addr add 172.16.0.8/15 dev br0
      Cannot find device “br0”
    • [[ 1 -ne 0 ]]
    • echo ‘Failed to bring up network bridge’
Failed to bring up network bridge
    • exit 4

Any one knows how to fix this issue ??

Hi,

I am getting the exact same error, only difference being I am trying to run the container VM on kubernetes instead of directly using docker.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just in case; for now i’m using this : Docker
