By all means, use FTP with anonymous write access, but share the IP
address with us so we can benefit from it too. ;-)
So my response to ab’s comment is…
Well you’d have to get through our firewall before you can get to the
ftp server.
If you don’t have to worry about users inside your firewall, then that
isn’t a problem. I had to do somethiing similar at one point and I
used FileZilla. Might be less hassle than using the built-in Windows
ftp server. Otherwise, the only other suggestion I have is to double
check the firewall and all IIS settings.

So my response to KeN’s comment is…
If you talked with my users…er [L]users, you’d know I feel ok
about it.
I did figure it out, I had to change the userid assumed when logging in
with an anonymous connection, seems to work now.
I’m trying to create an ftp site on a win7 32bit box for backing up our
phone systems.
I can get the site created fine, but I cannot get any type of access to
download or upload files to the site, but I do get connected to it.
I’d like to set it for anonymous access, but if I can’t get that to
work, I can deal with that.
Suggestions? (and not ones like get a real ftp server, etc, etc)
Get a real ftp server
Seriously though, the built-in ftpd is pretty poor on windows 7, and
free alternatives (such as filezilla server and freesftpd) offer more
functionality (such as sftp or ftps, compression etc) with very little
hassle.
