Any backupexec 2012 users in here willing to give some assistance? I
have an issue with a server at a ‘remote’ site (connected via 10GB
fiber). Backups fail with an error of:
0xe00084f8 - The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has
been lost. Check for network errors.
I know that is not the case as every other server from this site gets
backed up, and the backup server at this site backs up servers at our
main location w/o problems every night.
Problem server at this site is win2012 64bit, virtual, and (like I
said) connected via 10GB fiber.
I’ve tried everything on symantec’s page about this error, not sure
what else to try.
Can you reproduce it? How do you know the error is wrong? It says the
connection is lost, not that the connection could not be established,
which implies that the connection worked for some tiny period of time,
making a comparison to other servers that connected a little less useful.
It would be useful to know if the connection really was lost, though,
plus maybe other details on how you have this setup (agent on the
backed-up server, presumably?). If you were to run a LAN trace and ONLY
capture SYN, FIN, and RST packets on the port used for the backup then
you’d only need to capture a dozen packets or so and you’d see if, and
when, a connection start or stop happened. If you see something around
the time of the error, you know the connection was probably lost, and then
you can focus on the issue… why, not if.
