How to install a windows software in such a way, it runs like a linux program.
Demand from my wife: If I should use this Linux, this software, stored on the server, need to run flawless.
How to do?
1.) I added the network drives via NFS, direct mount. (see article below network) so they appear as internal drives. This is needed since the software need access right after boot.
2) I installed Wine that is needed to simulate Windows. But start a program from wine takes some effort.
3) I installed “PlayOnLinux” This program offers a list of your installed windows programs and run them out of the box. Now, it works flawless.
Most people use Crossover Office.
Play on Linux is intended for video games. I’m glad you made it work for your application though.
