Hello,

Did any HP Notebook owner succesfully upgraded from SLED 11 SP1 (pre-installed) to SP2 ?

No. It is rumoured that SP2 will allow automatically updates in a couple
of months.

hehe it is rumoured! i don’t think so as they have to work on a lot of drivers!

Well only HP will be able to confirm this!

I confirm it will be done in a couple of weeks.

You can force the update but don’t do that as it will break compatibility with hardware components such as Wireless card.

Arnaud

I think this information should be available before SP2 release.

A couple months from release has already passed. When it will be
possible to update without forcing?

This is what I have got from the support :

"The new 64bit SLED11 SP2 image was released for the new (soon to be available) HW and we are now working to release the drivers to the web.

The migration work will now start up for current shipping (32bit) platforms.

  1. 32 bit drivers are untested so this will take some effort.
  2. If the users are ok with downloading the SP2 64bit OS from SUSE and the closed-source drivers from hp website, then this would be the most expedient option. Install the OS, install the closed-source drivers, and download/install the latest patches (kernel updates - there were many specifically based on things we caught after SP2 GA release.) Be sure to back up the user data since this is a fresh OS install.
    "

Is there any hardware problems after update? There is no official HP drivers for SP2 yet…

Where can i download the “closed-source” drivers for SLED 11 SP2 64bit ?

Already created a new SLED11-SP2-HP-BNB-Updates repository, but it is
still empty…

This folder exists since March 2012 & it was empty at that time

For my SUSE account it appear since june.

Information given. All new models come with le 64 bits edition

I have just tested the 64bit drivers on SLED 11 SP1 64 bit & they work fine. Unfortunately the proprietary drivers do not work on SLED 11 SP2 64 bit as it fails to resolve some dependencies among which “kernel 2.6”.
