@#$%in ugh............

Wonder if anyone as seen this before. Running backupexec 2012
(sp4)…I know I know.

Anyway, have a remote site with three virtual servers. Backups have
been running fine there for a long time, now this week they decide to
act up.

BE2012 went away from one job backing up many servers to one job, one
server, which I’ve heard is going away in 2014.

Anyway, like I said, these backups have been fine, backing up all three
servers to one tape for a long time. This week however, it decided to
back up two servers on one tape, then jump to a different tape for the
last server.

Jobs are set to use any tape from a specified group, and the real weird
thing is, the backup last night took a tape from the weekly group and
changed it to the daily group for that one server.

Anyone see this before? If so, what did you do to fix it?

Well, I have no idea, but a thought occurred to me that, perhaps
there could be corruption of the settings file for the backup, so
have you tried deleting that and recreating the backup settings, or
create a new one, and try using the new one to see if there’s any
difference in results? : )

So my response to Susan’s comment is…

Not yet. I did go through them all this morning and made sure the
settings were correct.

Wondering if there is some corruption. This last server did not get
backed up all week, and after I went into the backup settings
yesterday, it backed up last night, albeit to a separate tape.

Fortunately we are backing up this location from another location as
well.

You checked your backup, who does that!

Anyways, from long ago experience, you have to delete and recreate the job
and hope the job corruption was not migrated to the data. Test restore AND
OPEN some files. I have seen properly verified tapes restore garbage with
verified CRC etc.
