Install adaptec SCSI Card

Hello,

i try to install the Adaptec SCSI Card 29320LPE on a SLES 11 SP3. But when i put the card in the server, than the server hangs in the startup.
The driver from the adaptec website are only for sles10 and an technican told me, that the sles 11 should have the right driver on board.
How can i install this driver aic79xx???

Hi
I would go into the system BIOS and see if you can reset the irq’s
sounds like there may be a conflict.

If not, when you say it hangs on boot, is this after grub appears and
the system starts up, if so press the esc key and see what the logs are
saying.

Hello,

i resettet the irq, but the error is still there.
The Server hangs, when by loading the file initrd:

ELILO boot:…
Loading kernel vmlinuz-3.0.101-0.40-default… done
Loading file initrd-3.0.101-0.40-default… done

Here the server hangs.

What about if you press ctrl+alt+F10 to get to the kernel log?

Any idea of the PCI ID of the device?

You should be able to add the option in the elilo line at the bottom of
the screen and see if running insmod helps;

insmod=aic79xx
