IRC client and other software on SLES possible?

I’ve been searching all night trying to figure out if IRC can be used on OES/SLES. Can’t seem to find anything for a client and the bot I’m trying to configure always times out when connecting. Is there something that prevents IRC from working? Are there client packages available?

Xchat is available for SLED, but SLES is a server… so are you wanting a cli client?

Mainly I’m wanting to set up a simple bot for a channel. The server is the only linux box I have. A client would be nice but I can always use a workstation for that.
