Issues with vApp Properties on vSphere 8.0.3.00400 with Rancher 2.9.2

Hi everyone,

I’m currently facing issues while provisioning VMs on vSphere version 8.0.3.00400 using Rancher version 2.9.2. It seems that Rancher is not able to set the vApp properties on the machines, and as a result, the VMs are not receiving IP addresses from the vSphere network profile.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or found a workaround? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Could you provide more details about your environment?
Do you handle variables passed from VMware via vApp on the OS layer using vmtools?
As I understand it, network address is automatically provided via pools at the VMware NPP level?

With the same VMware version and Rancher version 2.8.9, everything works fine.
Next week I plan to upgrade Rancher to version 2.9.3.

I’ll get back to you with information on how it behaves after such an upgrade.

R2

Hi,

After finally upgrading to rancher 2.9.4 we do not encounter the problem you described in our environment: Rancher 2.9.4, vSphere version 8.0.3.00400, vMware Network Protocol Profile,
OVF environment transport VMware Tools.

Cluster nodes provision without any problems and obtain IP addresses from the pool.
