Anybody here understand Mailman mailing lists? The host that runs ngwlist had a
“critical” error today and Linode rebooted it. Now mail will come into the
system, but the mailman process doesn’t seem to move them from the “in” queue
out to the mailing list. Since I inherited the system, I’m at a loss!

But I figured it out. The former admin of the list contacted me in June to let
me know that he periodically gets notifications from the list, and I hunted and
pecked until I found a list called “mailman” that had him listed as the admin.
Since we weren’t using that list at all, I deleted it. Apparently it’s a
required list. Everything ran just fine until the server got rebooted. The
actual error I received was:
Starting mailman: Site list is missing: mailman
And indeed, the “mailman” list was gone, so once I recreated that, mailman would
load again and mail is flowing!
