1 server had an old CRT style monitor. We have an asus vw220s that we would like to use on that server. When I physically remove the CRT and install the flat screen, there is no display. Get an out of range error on the monitor. I put the CRT back in place and tried to change to the new screen in yast->hardware->monitor but asus vw220s is not listed. What is the correct way to install an different monitor on sles11?
When you attach the new monitor and get the out of range message hit ctrl-alt-f1 and you should see a text login prompt. Log in there and run
$ yast
You’ll get the nurses interface of YaST. YaST has the option to supply a driver disk for you monitor but you can probably just select LCD and suitable resolution and it’ll work.
